The 2007 Nanny Cay Nations Cup...less than 4 weeks away!
November 17th will come sooner than you think. We could be looking at 20 National teams battling it out in the Sir Francis Drake Channel off Nanny Cay making it the biggest NCNC yet!
Already confirmed with checks in the post are team ‘Crabtown sailors’ from Annapolis USA (Dotty Holoubek), team HIHO (Andy Morrell), team Canada (Mark Plaxton), team Holland (Frits Bus) and team St. Martin (Simon Manly).
In the pipeline we have Michael Green from St. Lucia, Bernie Wong from Antigua and the legendary Bungie Flynn from Ireland all battling to make the event.
Then there’s the local teams which may well include Chris Currerri (USVI), John Holmberg (USA/BEYC), Andrew Waters (UK), Alec Anderson (BVI), Hirst/Rathbun (BVI), Nanny Cay Expats (UK), Mike Masters/Robin Tattersall (UK Beefeaters) and up to two more Puerto Rican teams.
There’s even a team Scotland making serious enquiries. Add that lot up and you have 19 teams, which will make this the biggest NCNC yet.
There will be plenty of interest in the teams who have not raced here before. Dotty Holoubek and her ‘Crabtown Sailors’ race a Catalina 27 in Annapolis. She’s bringing her seasoned crew down with her and is eyeing a top five finish.
If Bernie Wong and Michael Green make it they will be a force to be reckoned with. They are no strangers to the Caribbean racing circuits but only have limited IC24 experience.
Then there’s young Alec Anderson who recently stunned several of the more experienced local IC24 'rockstars’ by placing second in the Pete Sheals Memorial Match Race. He’ll have a young crew on board and they will be keen for some more fresh scalps.
It’s shaping up to be a classic, entries will be capped at 20 so ‘book early to avoid disappointment!’
No confirmed answer to the question that everyone is asking…will Peter Holmberg be sailing with brother John? Watch this space, you will read it here first!

I will be entering a BVI team with Alec Anderson.
